Mindful Eating

Updated: Aug 18, 2020

Mindful eating is a great way to sloe down, appreciate yourself and your food, and return to the practice of intuitive eating we practiced as children.

How to Practice Mindful Eating

Before you eat, take note of the reason you're eating....don't make any judgements about it just notice.

Sit comfortably at a table, if you have one, or whatever space you have sit up straight and comfortably to eat in your home.

Eat slowly, chew well and notice the taste, texture, temperature, and smell of each bite as you eat it.

Keep this process going throughout your whole meal and take the time to appreciate the food that is nourishing you, yourself for creating this meal, and your body for helping you move through your life.

Once you feel satisfied, stop eating. Don't worry if your plate isn't clean or if you ate a second serving just listen to your body's cues and stop when you feel content rather than full.

Be Patient with your Practice

This is a practice and a habit to build up and it takes time like learning any new skill. Be patient with yourself while you learn your body's cues and never beat yourself up for missing one because it takes time and patience and practice to create a habit and tune in with yourself. Mindful eating can be a great way to connect with yourself while eating a nourishing meal, tune into your hunger cues, and practice intuitive eating, to put you more in touch with your body and mind!
